I was raised in a very Christian home. My parents and grandparents are very involved in our church, and their influence is the reason I was saved at an early age. Growing up, I was blessed to have so many Christian influences in my life. I will always remember my papa and granny studying their Sunday School lessons, and nana practicing the piano for church. Every night when I would stay the night at grandonna’s, she would make me recite what I believe is the most important verse in the Bible-John 3:16. The life that I saw my family live was truly God’s love. Today it reminds me that you are constantly a representative of Christ in all that you do.
I went through a long period in my life where I felt I was just living “in the motions”. Looking like a Christian without truly living for Christ is such an easy thing to do, especially when you have so many Christian obligations to attend to. One service, my senior year of high school, the Lord spoke to me and told me that Christianity doesn’t end with just acceptance; Christianity is a constant relationship with Him! You have to seek God with your whole heart to find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). From that moment on, I have tried to have a genuine relationship with Christ; a relationship that isn’t a mask that I put on, but a relationship that I strive to fall deeper and deeper into.
Now that I am in college, I am experiencing a whole new phase in my spiritual journey. I know that God has a plan for my life and I am excided and nervous to see what He has for me. I am so thankful for a loving church like Mount Nelson that has always been there. I love y’all!
